Conditions of Travel

  • Dogs (with the exception of Guide Dogs) and bicycles are not conveyed on Suburban Rail trains. Prams must be folded. Packed folded bicycles will be conveyed.
  • Suburban Rail reserves the right to refuse to carry heavy or bulky or dangerous luggage.
  • Suburban Rail, its servants or agents may refuse access to stations, platforms or trains to any ticket holder.
  • Suburban Rail reserves the right to confiscate any ticket or authorisation document used or about to be used in conjunction with fraudulent or suspected fraudulent travel.
  • Suburban Rail reserves the right to close the entrance to any platform at such time before the advertised time of departure of any train as it may consider expedient.
  • Passengers should check their tickets and change at time of purchase. Suburban Rail will not be responsible for mistakes discovered afterwards. Passengers are requested to have correct fare, as change may not always be available.
  • Suburban Rail staff have no authority to waive or vary any of these conditions.
  • All passengers must enter and exit only through the authorised entry and exits.
  • Cars and bicycles must be parked correctly in designated areas on railway property.
  • Suburban Rail entitles authorised persons to demand name and address from persons offending against bye-laws or suspected of such offences.
  • Suburban Rail prohibits:
    • Any intoxicated person from using the railway.
    • Any use of threatening, abusive or offensive language or disorderly or offensive conduct.
    • Taking anything on to the railway which could cause injury or offence.
    • Smoking in areas designated as non-smoking by notice.
    • Depositing of litter (except in bins provided) on trains or premises, graffiti and notice posting.
    • Nuisance use of radios, recorders or musical instruments, (buskers etc) and prohibits hawkers or sellers of any kind.
    • Gambling or wagering or loitering on the railway.
    • Putting feet on seats.
    • The trespass of persons in and upon the railway.
    • The parking of any vehicle in a place prohibited.
    • Travelling upon an escalator in a direction other than the direction in which it is moving or interference with safety buttons.
  • It is Suburban Rail's policy to prosecute offenders.
