Our Fleet

Iarnród Éireann’s Fleet, or Rolling Stock as it is commonly referred to, comprises the following. The fleet will increase further with orders placed for an additional 80 DMU's and 12 EMU's ordered as part of our IÉ Investment programme.

All rolling stock undergoes a programme of planned maintenance and overhaul. The most frequent examination is the daily service and safety check, then the six monthly examination followed by the heavy overhaul every three years. The frequencies vary, depending on rolling stock type.

Inchicore Works, Dublin is the headquarters for Mechanical Engineering and Rolling Stock maintenance in Irish Rail. It is the largest engineering complex of its kind in Ireland. Click here for more details.
